Spiced Oven Spareribs

4 to 5 pounds pork spareribs, cut in serving-size pieces 
1/2 cup soy sauce 
3/4 cup water 
1 cup orange marmalade 
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 
dash pepper 
1/2 teaspoon (rounded) ground ginger 

Place ribs, meaty side down, in a shallow roasting pan. Roast at 450° for 30 minutes. Remove and drain off excess fat. Turn ribs meaty side up and lower oven temperature to 350° roast 60 minutes longer.

Combine remaining ingredients in a bowl; pour over ribs. Bake 30 minutes longer, or until ribs are tender, basting with the sauce a few times.
